Steadfast in the Storm

Nahum 1:7 (ESV)

“The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; He knows those who take refuge in Him.”

DEVOTIONAL

Life is full of storms—some come as fierce tempests, others as long, wearying trials. But here’s the anchor for your soul: The Lord is good. Not just sometimes, not only when things are easy, but always.

Nahum wrote these words in a time of judgment and turmoil, yet he declared God’s goodness and faithfulness. When trouble comes, God isn’t distant. He is a stronghold—a fortress of refuge for His people. And more than that, He knows those who trust in Him. This isn’t just knowledge from afar; it’s the deep, loving, personal care of the Father for His children.

Whatever you’re facing today, take heart. Run to Him, not away from Him. Rest in the One who holds you fast. He is your safe place, and He will never fail you.

Prayer: Lord, in every storm, remind me of Your goodness. Be my refuge today. Keep my heart fixed on You, and let me rest in Your faithfulness. Amen.
