2 Corinthians 12:9 (ESV)
“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’”
DEVOTIONAL
There are days when our strength fails us. We don’t have the energy, the answers, or even the will to keep pressing on. Maybe it’s physical exhaustion. Maybe it’s the weight of grief, sin, or fear. Whatever it is, you feel weak — and the world tells you that’s a problem. But the Lord tells you it’s an opportunity.
When the Apostle Paul cried out to the Lord to take away the “thorn in his flesh,” the Lord did not remove it. Instead, He gave Paul something better: a deeper understanding of grace. “My grace is sufficient for you,” the Lord said — not “My grace will make you strong in yourself,” but “My grace will be enough for you, even in your weakness.”
That is the beautiful paradox of the gospel: God does not wait for us to be strong before He uses us. He is glorified in our weakness. When we come to the end of ourselves, that is often when we begin to truly rely on Him. His power doesn’t fill the strong and self-reliant — it flows through the humble, the dependent, the needy.
Are you feeling weak today? Good. That’s where grace does its best work.
Don’t run from weakness. Bring it to the feet of Jesus. Let it drive you to the throne of grace, where mercy is never withheld, and strength is found in Someone greater than you. You are not enough — but He is.
Prayer:
Lord, I confess my weakness. I cannot do this on my own. Thank You for reminding me that I don’t have to. Let Your power be seen in my weakness. Let Your grace be more than enough for today. Help me boast, not in my strength, but in You alone. Amen.
